24 Nov 2011 : Return of the King!!! Daughtrey takes control at Carnegie for the second time..................
While clearly sad to announce the sacking of Gavin Ross Club Chairman Kevin Ross was delighted to unveil Phil Daughtrey (42) as the Clubs new Head (Joint) Co-captain.  Daughtrey, who hails from Lancashire, is a former Carnegie player who has also played at a high level in Yorkshire and was previously capped for France at under 17 and under 19 level.  A hard hitting opening batsman who relishes the challenges at the top of the order and a very over-rated leg spinner Daughtrey is set to bring some new ideas to Carnegie.

Chairman Kevin Ross described Daughtrey as 'cuddly but naughty' before going on to comment that 'Barney is the ideal man to take Carnegie towards the National Leagues in the coming season, if he doesn't get us there I will sack him just like I sacked Gav.  At the end of the day I am the Chairman and I can do what I like!  If you don't like it I will make another speech!!'.

Daughtrey himself was unavailable for comment (thankfully).

24 Nov 2011 : More Breaking News......Carnegie free Niall Walker after 17 years.....Read all about it!!!
Long serving left handed all-rounder Niall Walker has been freed after 17 years at Carnegie.  Walker, famous for once having caramel highlights, has been released so that he can find a club close to his Drumchapel base.

Over the course of his 17 years at Carnegie Walker scored 42 runs and took 7 wickets, his contribution is better summed up by the 1,249 wides and 745 no-balls that he bowled during this time.  Walker also claimed the inaugural 'Race to the Duckpond' trophy in 2009 after a titanic battle with Scotland international trombonist Bob Hunter.  Those in the know believe that Walkers performances have tailed off following the departure of his long term mentor David Mitchell.

Chairman Kevin Ross commented that 'Walker will remain part of the extended Carnegie family if he maintains his Standing Order'.  Walker himself is looking forward to the next challenge in his career stating that 'like every great left handed all rounder it is my dream to do the double of 250 wides and 100 no balls in a season, hopefully my new Club will give me that opportunity'.

24 Nov 2011 : Breaking News...........ROSS SACKS ROSS!!!! Chairman makes his mark and clears out the old guard........
Dunfermline Carnegie have sacked Captain Gavin Ross (37) after only one season in charge.  During a rambling, confusing and at times emotional speech Club Chairman Kevin Ross (27, no relation) revealed that he had taken this decision as a perceived consequence of Gavin's lack of ability.

Ross had taken over the captaincy at the start of the 2011 season and immediately tried to stamp his personality on the team by encouraging it to under achieve and eat Ginsters before games.  Results were mixed throughout the summer with most knowledgeable people crediting Vice Captain Matthew Lafferty with most of the successes.  Ross was also believed to be unhappy that certain senior players would set off for away games early in order to have some pre-match refreshment, at the time Ross commented 'not only is it unprofessional but I wasn't invited'.

It remains to be seen whether Gavin Ross has any future with Carnegie.  Ross himself declined to comment other than to say 'can you call back after Masterchef.'

Animals come 2 by 2 as Noah visits Pitreavie....

Biblical figure Noah was spied at Pitreavie this afternoon midway through the promotion clash between Carlton and Carnegie at Pitreavie.

Batting first on a damp day, Carnegie were restricted to 139 all out, with pond visits for Messrs Harris, Denton and Kev "heave!" Ross

Credit to Flash and Jason for respectable knocks to give Carnegie something to bowl at.

Carlton were denied the opportunity to face the "twin towers" of Ross and Kitching as rain fell shortly before the second innings.....

03 Jul 2011 : Carnegie march on after Stirling collapse...

Carnegie enjoyed 20 points and a pint at the stunning New Williamsfield cricket ground in Stirling.

Batting first, Carnegie lost regular wickets with only Miller and Lafferty doing themselves proud - a modest total of 152 was set on a good wicket and fast outfield.

The bowlers rescued the points for Carnegie, with a self appointed man of the match performance from skipper Gav "decisions decisions" Ross taking 5 for 22.  Stirling, beautifully placed at 96 for 3, fell to 113 all out.

Braw....
