Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club - Wicket Preparation Guidelines



The following is a revision of the Institute of Groundsman wicket preparation and is our agreement with the Pars Trust on wicket preparation

Definitions

Broom scarify - removal of all "thatch" rogue grass with the thick wire besom broom stored in the hut

Heavy Roller - use of the rolling machine on loan from Dunfermline CC

Light Roller - use of the light hand roller stored in the hut

Cutting - agreed schedule with Pars Trust

Wicket Preparation

Square to be maintained at 8mm at all times (Pars Trust)

Sunday - Broom Scarify wicket and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Monday - Broom Scarify wicket and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Tuesday - Broom Scarify wicket and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Wednesday - First cut to 6mm (Pars Trust) and Broom Scarify wicket and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Thursday - Broom scarify and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Friday - Final cut to 3mm (Pars Trust) and heavy roll for 1.5 hours (Carnegie)

Saturday Pre Match - Final light sweep and heavy roll for one hour (Carnegie)

Saturday post match - Sweep up wicket, light roll and rope oiff square (Carnegie)


Pars Trust - responsible for pre season heavy rolling wicket cutting, outfield preparation, wicket restoration post match and irrigation

Carnegie - responsible for pre season scarify, end of season maintenance (in co-ordination with Shaun Davidson) and weekly preparation duties.  All work to be agreed with Pars Trust directors in advance for co-ordination purposes.
