Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club - Roller User Guidelines
Following advice on use from Dunfermline CC, these are the recommended user procedures for using the heavy roller
- The roller is held in the big green shed at Pitreavie, with the handle normally stored at the reception desk in the main building.
- The roller must be operated only when it is dry overhead and we should aim to keep it dry at all times for reliability purposes.
- A key for the shed is available upon request for Pars Trust reception, if you explain you are a member of Carnegie CC
- Make sure there is diesel in the roller. If more is needed, a green diesel can is in the shed. The nearest garage is at Camdean
- To start up, have the direction gear on "0", the pace gear on "start up" (both on the leg of the machine) and the twist knob "horizontal" (located on engine box).
- Insert the handle fully into its lot, and roll it at pace in an anti clockwise motion to start it up.
- Once it starts, let it run for one minute to warm up. THIS IS IMPORTANT
- To move to the square, put the direction gear to "forward" and the pace gear to "~~" - leave it on this until you get to the wicket
- Once at wicket, change the pace gear to "max". Its an old machine, so any slower will cause it to cut out
- Roll the wicket for an hour to 1.5 hours
- If the roller cuts out, leave it for 20 minutes before re-starting.
- At the end of the session, return the roller to the shed, lock the shed, and return the key to Pars Trust staff
