KirkBrae v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club First Team on Sat 01 May 2010 at 1pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets
Match report
Carnegie went down to a narrow defeat at a bitterly cold Kirkbrae on Saturday. Carnegie had a horror start as they were reduced to 4-3 inside 5 overs as Hunter was bowled hooking, Honeyford was LBW playing across the line and Lafferty was bowled by a vicious in dipper. The drunken couple of Mitchell and Commandent Lassard came together and played positively to get the score up to 40 before Commandent Lassard was bowled for a gutsy 12. This brought debutant Murray Callan to the crease and he played some delightful shots on his way to a classy 27. At the other end Mitchell surprised everyone when he 'leaned' on a defensive shot and sent it 20 yards over the long off boundary for his first six since Fruechie in 1995. Mitch and Murray put on a key partnership which allowed Bowser to come in and give it some tap in the closing overs. Great knocks from Mitch, Murray and Matt had enabled Carnegie to post a competitive 192-6.
In reply Carnegie opened with Matt and Monty. Bowser struck twice early on thanks to two bad catches from Mitch. Carnegie were conceding far to many boundaries despite a great spell from Commandent Lassard who conceded a miserly 16 runs off his 10 overs. In the end Kirkbrae got home in the 48th over by 6 wickets.
A very enjoyable game of cricket despite the bitter cold. Encouraging debut from Murray and quality knocks from Mitch and Bowser. The bowling with the exception of Matt and Commandent Lassard was ordinary and conceded far too many boundaries. Owen and Don led the way in the field. Hopefully not too more 8pm finishe!!
