Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club First Team v Edinburgh South on Sat 08 May 2010 at 1pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 71 runs
Match report
Carnegie recorded a fine victory over Edinburgh South at Pitreavie on Saturday. Mitch lost the toss (again) and we were asked to bat on a very green wicket. It was soon clear that Edinburgh possessed a very good bowling attack which and runs were going to be hard to come by. Bruce Almighty was bowled early doors but Lafferty and Lassard built steadily before Harris was caught behind for 19, Butch departed just before the drinks interval leaving Carnegie 44-3 off 25 overs. Skipper Mitchell joined Lafferty and the runs began to come a little quicker. Mitch was caught at cover and Murray soon followed having lost his off stump. At 73-5 off 37 overs Carnegie needed some big hitting to get to a competitive score and Bowser duly obliged by depositing Gus McLean in the burn on his way to a barnstorming 27. Lafferty departed in the 44th over for a gutsy 38 leaving Ross and a rejuvanated Honeyford to continue the onslaught as Carnegie posted 146-9.
In reply Wauchop was pretty much unplayable and picked up the astonishing figures of 10-9-4-5 featuring 59 dot balls. Bruce Almighty took a stunning catch to get rid of the dangerous looking number 3. Carnegies fielding was excellent with the exception of dropped catches from Mitch and Martin. Edinburgh South were eventually all out for 74 with Mitch and Butch cleaning up the lower order.
A great all round performance from Carnegie against a very good Edinburgh South side. The appplication with the bat was superb while the bowling, led by Wauchop, was accurate all afternoon. The fielding was exceptional with Bruce Almighty, Muzz and Owais showing the way.
