Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club First Team v Peebles on Sat 05 Jun 2010 at 1pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost Peebles win by 109 runs
Match report
Carnegie suffered a disappointing defeat at home to league leaders Peebles on Saturday
Skip Mitch lost the toss and Peebles elected to bat first on a road of a track on a scorching day. Carnegie opened with Gav and Viggy, and Gav got a wicket with his first ball - a diamond of a full toss that was taken with a solid low catch by Bruce at cover. Great start. Gav then got an LBW and Carnegie were on fire. Viggy bowled with great shape and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket.
Wickets fell at regular intervals as Harry and Mitch bowled a tight middle spell in the heat of the West fife sun. One Peebles batsmen, a tall South African, was building a fine innings and proving the mainstay of the Peebles innings. Drinks were taken after 26 overs, and the score was about 60 odds.
Bruce bowled a lovely spell and took two wickets, the best being a lovely LBW.
But, Carnegie couldnt shake off the Peebles "white bread, brown bread" batsmen, and he built a solid 50, which was met by no applause from his team mates.
In the final overs, he let go, and belted a six and a few beautiful fours, before falling in a heap after the 50th over was up. Time for a gym session?
In reply Carnegie went bang, bang, bang, bang, bang
Harris and Pike then put together a solid partnership before Harry was bowled
Then it was bang, bang, bang, bang - PUB!
An onto next weekend - the big derby at McKane, where Carnegie need to show some batting resolve to back up their excellent bowling and fielding
