Dunfermline 2nd XI v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club First Team on Sun 13 Jun 2010 at 1pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets
Match report
Carnegie produced a tremendous team performance at McKane this weekend to claim all 20 points in the Dunfermline derby.
After a delayed start due to rain, an agreement was made to play a 30 over a side match. Dunfermline won the toss and elected to bat. Butch and Mitch opened up and bowled a cracking tight spell with Butch getting rid of Mushy.
Monty and Gordon replaced the openers, and Monty was rewarded with a wicket. Gordon was despatched for a few boundaries by young Davidson, who is looking more promising every year.
Nelly and Kev were given a whirl as Mitchell went for broke, and it paid off. The pair bowled in tandem and each picked up two wickets. A cracking performance on debut from Pringle, with some lovely variation to his bowling. Nelly picked up the wicket of former Carnegie star Humphries, which was enjoyed by his team mates
Butch and Monty finished it off at the end, and Carnegie restricted Dunfermline to 125 from 30 overs. The outfield had dried up, and the wicket was a belter, so all Carnegie needed to do was to keep wickets in hand, and get over the line in the run chase.
Nelly was elevated to open with Matty in an effort to bring some stability to the top order. The pair started confidently and Matty breezed two lucious boundaries before being bowled by a pearler from Mushy. Nelly saw off Chris's pacey spell, picking up a bruise or two along the way. Nelly and John built a partnership based on quick running between the wickets, and after 20 overs, Carnegie needed 45 to win in the last ten. John fell LBW, and this brought in Muzz with the plan "i will hit the runs". And the boy was true to his word, belting two of his first 6 balls through cow for 4. Nelly was given a licence to thrill by Lafferty, and after two boundaries was bowled by Davidson senior, still master of the slow ball!. This brought Butch to the crease, and although Carnegie needed 20 from 3 overs, the pair saw it off in record time. Carnegie raced over the line with 10 balls to spare following cracking straight drives for boundaries from both players
A great boost for the team, and spirits were high afterwards as the beer flowed
Nelly sneaked MOM from Kev, Butch and Muzz
I heard it through a reliable source that Bob picked up TFC
