Kinross v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Midweek 8 a side on Wed 07 Jul 2010 at 6.30pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 2 runs

Match report The Carnegie Cheetahs ground out a victory in a very tight and entertaining game against a youthful Kinross side. Some would say that it was a good game good game, but not I.

After Kinross won the toss the Cheetahs opened the batting with Graham and Murray, who initially found runs hard to come by against the young bowling attack. After a few overs however, they were free scoring and Graham was dismissed before Muzstaffah was retired after achieving his first Carnegie half century.

The partnership of Baz and Don proved fruitful for the Cheetahs, with some quick run singles keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Don was then clean bowled going for a shot that looked suspiciously like an attempt to relieve himself of running any more 3s!

Kev and Baz set about scoring a series of quick singles before Kev was bowled trying to finish off with some big shots.

Matty L came in to finish the innings and the Cheetahs finished on exactly 100 runs and it was game on!

After a very quick turnaround Graham and Bruce led the bowling attack, with Graham showing good pace, movement and consistency and Bruce proving that shite definitely takes wickets!

With Monty producing a tricky spell and Baz bowling from the other end the wickets began to tumble, including a bottom-edge that carried to Don’s wickey pads, prompting Don to celebrate mid-retrieving the ball from his person.

KP showed some classy deliveries to put the Kinross batsmen under pressure and on came Muz from the other end bowling classic leg-break. After an incredible first two overs, including a wicket maiden, Muz failed to replicate this form in his third. Two balls from the end of Muz’s spell the young Kinross batsman who opened the bowling slipped after being turned back by his more senior batting partner. After some lightning-fast fielding from Kev, Muz (advised by Matt) did not run the youngster out and his sportsmanship was applauded by the crowd.

Whilst sportsman-like, this decision eventually left Kinross requiring three runs from the last three balls to win. Carnegie held out and showed that true class and sportsmanship wins the day every time.

After his third over and nearly game-losing sportsmanship, Muz won the TFC award, but noone can look past him as MoM as well. Didn’t he do well!
