Townhill v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Midweek 8 a side on Tue 22 Jun 2010 at 6.30pm
Match was Cancelled Broomhall win by 2 wickets

Match report An enormous crowd gathered at Goose Green on Tuesday night to see the battle of the titans - the Carnegie Cheetahs versus the Broomhall BarronGreenbacks. Patrons came from as far away as Toonhill, Aberdeen, Glasgow and even Washington DC to take in this 20/20 spectacle. And for those travellers, what a game unfolded before their eye during a glorious summers evening in Charleston

Broomhall won the toss and and put the Cheetahs in, with Graham L and bongo opening the batting. Ally was on song, and despatched 3 of the opening 6 balls for 4. Graham fell for a couple with the score on 19 after 2 overs, and this bought in Owen "the destroyer" Goody. This man only needs one shot to score runs all over the ground. Owen and Bongo put on a firework display, with a collection of fantastic aerial shots, a mix fo well run singles and boundares aplenty. Owen fell on a seasons top score of 22, but ally continued to score fludily when joined by Bruce Callan, a man in need of runs! Bruce got off the mark with a squeezed single, thanks to the umpire for awarding it off the bat. This brought Bruce back into life and form, and he then set about cracking the ball to all parts of the ground - proof that practice makes perfect - after exhaustively intense net sessions with "b. machine". When bongo was given LBW, and fell on 43 - he left the field to a standing ovation from the amassed galleries.

This brought in Bob "wet feet" Hunter to the crease - but he showed absolute class in getting of the mark, and played confidently in his innings. Bruce and Bob took Carnegie to the end of the 20 overs, and Carnegie scored 131, setting Broomhall a challenging target

After some ruffians were cleared from the outfield, play recommenced with Ally and Bruce opening up against a talented Broomhall top order. Ally and Bruce both went for 12 in their first over, and Broomhall looked likely to snaffle the runs in no time. This wasn't to be the case however, as both bowlers produced belting balls in their 2nd overs to clean bowl the opening pair. Bob and Graham were first change, and both bowlers contributed to the game. After 10 overs, Broomhall were on 58, which was exactly the same total as Carnegie had at the same point. The crowd broke into periodic mexican waves, as the tension built on the field, and the game looked as if it may go to the wire

Bream was brought on from the top end, with the Destroyer bowling up "Grouse hill". Both bowlers couldnt quite contain Stuart Glasgow, who by this stage was well set, focussed, and determined to see his side home. A final fling by Bruce and Ally could not contain Broomhall, and they sneaked over the line to the joy of the home crowd.

Carnegie were denied in a thriller but all players should be proud of a tremendous performance. Special note to "the Don" behind the stumps - no byes past him last night - "say aye to a killie pie"

After the match, beers were enjoyed, and captain Bob gave some autographs to the travelling support.

Man of the match was Ally Cameron

Thanks for Coming was harshly awarded to Matty Lafferty. Bob then had to walk home

I dont like cricket, I love it!
