Glentothes Gladiators v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Midweek 8 a side on Tue 26 Jul 2011 at 6pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets
Match report
Carnegie travelled to Hippo Park for the final FPL fixture of the season with a side featuring T20 debutants Pike and Flash. The side also featured Scotland international Bob Hunter, international playboy Kevin Ross as well T20 stalwarts Lafferty, Pringle, Walley and Callan (senior). On arrival we were treated to the spectacle of dozens of locals in various states of drunkeness - this was to be a regular feature of the next 40 overs. Carnegie skipper Lafferty won the toss (take note Gav!!) and had no hesitation in bowling first on a deck that looked (and played) fantastic. With the news that Bruce is off to London to film the seventh series of The Apprentice is was an easy decision to give him the new ball. Brucey struck in his first over with a stunning caught and bowled. Flash, fresh from having his family honour insulted by Nelly in the build up, opened up from the other end and he seemed to be affected by Nellys insults as he conceded 3 boundaries in his first over. KP replaced Bruce after a couple of overs and settled into his spell. KP had his usual amount of luck with Bruce dropping a sitter and a strong LBW appeal being turned down. Flash clean bowled the other opener before announcing that he had not clean bowled anyone in the last 20 years - the sign of a good bowler. Flash completed his four over spell and was replaced by Bob Hunter who immediately dropped onto a length before going on to pick up the astonishing figures of 3-13 from 4 overs. Lafferty chipped in with a wicket as well as Glenrothes were bowled out for 76.
In reply KP and Bruce gave us a solid start before KP was bowled, Bruce eventually fell for 41 after a good stand with Pike.
Carnegie win by 5 wickets.
