Falkland 2nds v Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club First Team on Sat 05 May 2012 at 1pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost

Match report After the near biblical weather we have had since our summer heat wave finished in March we finally managed to get a game of cricket on Saturday. With many people not prepared for a bit of dry weather there was an influx of Facebook messages of people looking for kit in lofts, garages, back of cars and in Bobs case the biggest sports cupboard in the world.

Amazingly we all managed to find the ground as we all arrived from different parts of the country. Seriously, we had people travel from Aberdeen, Oban and deepest pits of the world, Boness.

After losing the toss Carnegie were put into bat on what looked a very green wicket. It certainly wasn't the conditions our new Pakistani recruit was used to. carnegie got off to a bright start with Muzz banging it to all corners, but in the end he tried to play a touch stroke and was caught in the gully. Pike cam and went and was quickly followed by Barney. Barney was debuting the new bat 'Fatso'. Seriously you couldn't make it up. Mitch came into join the ever present David Miller who was slowly but surely building the score. Mitch looked like he had never been away as he sensationally found at least 12 ways to beat the slip cordon. David brought up his fifty, decided that he had done enough and gave his wicket away. The rest of the team batted out the full amount of overs and we reached a target of 178.

In response Kevin Ross opened the bowling and found a good length. After 10 overs new recruit Waleed was brought on and had the finest debut over I have witnessed at Carnegie. After getting their star batsman out LBW he then cleaned bowled number 3 two bowls later. Falkland rebuilt again and after a fruitful third wicket stand Barney took the wicket of the opening bat. However this was to be the last wicket of the game as Falkland patiently worked their way to the target and saw it accomplished with 9 balls to spare.

The boys traveled back to Dunfermline where they enjoyed the hospitality of Dunfermline's premier night spot 'Life'

In the ned the batting was 25 runs short but everyone was glad to get the first game under the belt.

MoM - David Miller
TFC - Donald Walley - Although it was close between him and Matty L
