Match report
We arrived at sun soaked Pitreavie anticipating a day of sunburn and suncream - how wrong could we be. As the start of the game edged closer our Captain became conspicious by his absence despite claims of turning over a new leaf with regards to his timekeeping. When he did arrive he promptly left to pick up the scorebook which he had forgotten meaning that Vice Captain Matt Lafferty took on the onerous taks of doing the toss. The toss was promptly won and EUS inserted on a damp and green track. Carnegie started badly with a succession of wides and half-trackers from Wauchop and Steward. EUS had progressed to 30-0 before an outstanding piece of fielding from Bob Hunter resulted in the run out of the opener. (Bob asked me not to mention that the run out came about due to him dropping a sitter.) As the clouds thickened Neil 'Sunshine' Harris began to bowl with his usual rhythm and bowled 10 tight overs for only 18 runs. He probably deserved more than his one wickets but hey-ho sometimes you dont get what you deserve. At the other end 'Handbrake' Honeyford was struggling with his line and length and was subsequently replaced by David Mitchell who immediately began terrorising the batsman with his 'variety'. Mitch picked up 3 quick wickets before the heavens opened.
Overall we were quite lucky to have reduced EUS to 71-5 as the bowling and fielding was not up to the standard of previous weeks.
Mitch awarded the Man of the Match award to Neil Harris and the Thanks for Coming Award to Phil Daughtrey. Giving Barney the TFC award was explained later by Mitch as being a total abuse of the captaincy as Barney was catching him up in the Fantasy League.
