Match report
Carnegie got thumped at home to Clack at Pitreavie on Saturday. Carnegie were missing a number of key players in particular the flamboyantly camp Niall Walker. Clack won the toss and elected to bat on a typically green Pitreavie wicket. Matt and Mitch both bowled excellent opening spells. Mitch got the two classy batsman out with full tosses on leg stump which were both brilliantly caught by the returning Jason at mid wicket. Matt picked up two wickets including a clean bowled off the last ball off his tenth over. After 20 overs Clack were struggling on 40-4. A partnership of 111 in 24 overs was the cornerstone of their eventual 194-7. Neil and Ralph both bowled good 10 over spells going at about 4 an over. The other bowlers were Lafferty, Hunter, Ross and Stringer and they all struggled for line and length although Paul picked up his first wicket. The fielding was a bit 'hit or miss' with a few chances going down eh Bob?
In reply Lafferty and Harris opened against a very lively new ball and did very well to get Carnegie to 27-0 in 6 overs. Lafferty in particluar took some painful blows on the fingers before being bowled. Goody followed quickly before the big wickets of Mitch and Harris fell in quick succession. Matty Wow tried to banjo his way out of trouble and hit a few decent shots before missing a straight one. The tail crumbled quickly despite a heroic 2 not out from injury stricken Gav Ross saved some face. We were all out for 59 in 21 overs.
I am not one for criticisng but we should never have been bowled out in 21 overs. We need to put a greater value on our wickets and try and play more to the conditions and circumstances. We had seven people bowled yesterday which isn't clever.
Man of the Match was Paul Stringer while the TFC has TBC.
