Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 59 runs

Match report Carnegie Comets narrowly failed to defeat Glenrothes Gladiators in the Fife Premier League at Pitreavie on Tuesday. On winning the toss the Comets inserted the Gladiators and a tidy opening spell from Walker kept the score down before Glenrothes opened up against the change bowlers. Carnegie did well to keep plugging away and Bob Hunter picked up a wicket while Owen Goody gained good reward with a double wicket haul. All in all a decent effort in the field while the bowlers toiled away with good heart. In reply Lafferty and Hunter got the Comets off to a flier with a swashbuckling stand of 45 in 7 overs featuring zero boundaries!! Lafferty was caught in the deep for a well-run 25 and Hunter was bowled for a classy 15. Zubir, Stevie, Paul, Nelly and Owen all made good contributions as Carnegie batted their overs with a degree of comfort. Special mention to Paul who made a good 17 and hit the only boundary of the Carnegie innings!! In the end we needed 59 off the last ball but Stevie missed it so we lost. Broomhall Buccaneers next up.
