Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Midweek 8 a side v Kinross on Tue 05 Aug 2008 at 6.30pm
Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 2 wickets

Match report Carnegie lost to FPL Champions Kinross off the last ball at Pitreavie on Tuesday. Batting first Carnegie lost the early wickets of Stringer and Goody before Hunter and Bream steadied the ship. Bream was striking the ball crisply while someone had clearly told Bob that this was a Test Match as he left ball after ball before eventually pulling to square leg. Lafferty came in next and was content to knock the single allowing Bream to have a swing. The game was soured by a bad injury to the Kinross keeper who took a flick from Bream flush in the face leading to a long delay and a trip to hospital. Best wishes from all at Carnegie. Lafferty sportingly retired on 19 to give others a shot. Bob was fielding for Kinross by this time and Nelly made the mistake of taking on his arm and trying to run 4 meaning poor Bream was runout by about 20 yards. Bream's parting shot of 'you f*cking idiot' summed up the moment nicely. A class knock from Bream though of 35. Graham came in and gave it a smack before being stumped while Nelly and Owen scampered well at the end. Carnegie posted a credible 115-5 off 20 overs.

In reply Nelly and Graham bowled well to keep the score down but it was left to Stringer to strike twice in quick succession. His LBW dismissal of Barron showed what a lovely bunch Carnegie are as the umpire was asked 'are you sure it was out?' followed by 'was it LBW or caught?'. Stringers other dismissal was a stunning catch from Hunter on his keeping debut scurrying round to gully to land a gentle skier. Stringer finished with 2-13 off fours overs. Lafferty gave himself his now customary bowl and struck in his second over again thanks to keeper Hunter taking a stunning catch off a quicker ball. Kinross continued to bat to win and they neeeded one of the last ball which was knicked through gully for a single.

Carnegie finished the game fieling in the dark and wet with 6 players so did very well to take the game as long as they did. Special mention to Owen for some great fielding in the deep and some great throwing. Bob also took 2 catches on his keeping debut.
