Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 54 runs
Match report
Carnegie slumped to yet another defeat in Division 4 at Pfeffermill on Saturday. On a good looking deck with a fast looking outfield and short boundaries EUS had no hesitation in winning the toss and batting. Their batsman seemed to think 400 was a par score judging by the way they through their bat at anything in reach. Ross stuck early removing Malkin LBW for 2 before the impressive Bredenkamp was caught by Mitchell off the bowling of Steward. The next four EUS batsman all passed 20 in quick time but none of them could go on to make a big score as Harris picked up regular wickets. Harris finished with 3-51 off his 10 overs. Monty bowled a cracking spell with no reward whatsoever. Mitch bowled without his regular rhythm but still managed season best figures of 4-38. The number 10 batsman for EUS was a class act as he thumped 24 off only 8 scoring shots. EUS finished on 178 all out in 43 overs. A good fielding performance from Carnegie.
Carnegies reply got off to a disastorous start as Lafferty and Lindsay were dismissed to leave them on 3-2. Harris and Steward came together and put together an excellent stand of 76 to give Carnegie hope. The dismissal of Steward for 30 was crucial and led to wickets falling all over the place. Harris continued to bat with a purpose althought there were questions asked over how long he had been batting for? An exchange with the bowler fired up Harris even more as he whacked 12 off 4 balls. Sadly Neil was left high and dry on a classy and chanceless 62 as the tail folded in quick time. Carnegie a very disappointing 124 all out on a good batting track.
Carnegie got thrashed but had the two top scorers in the match. Seven Carnegie batsman were bowled which is very, very poor on a good batting track. A bit more application and Carnegie could easily have won this game.
Man of the Match was Neil Harris, TFC to be confirmed due to the size of the shortlist!
Haddington away next week.
