Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets
Match report
Carnegie Comets went down to another narrow defeat in the Fife Premier League last night and now face an uphill fight to make the Grand Final.
Carnegie were asked to bat first and got off to a reasonable start before Lafferty was caught and bowled for 8. Bream upped the ante with some attacking shots before being caught. Jamie and Bob had to withstand some lively bowling before Jamie was bowled round his legs. Bob was in explosive form as he hammered 17 off 53 balls. The dismissal of Bob brought Monty and Mitch together and they took the score to 82-4 in 20 overs. Mitch managed another not out.
In reply Glenrothes were under the cosh as Monty and Mitch started with a maiden each. Mitch took two wickets in his third over to give Carnegie hope while Monty bowled with great control as he conceded only 10 from his four overs. The change bowlers were D-Ream and the returning Jason. Both took a little while to find their line and length but settled down against some quality batting. Bream picked up two wickets with sharply turning deliveries which were followed up a with a send off for the batsman that Kev Ross and Glenn McGrath would be proud of. Glenrothes got home in the 15th over which saved me from bowling.
In summary we never scored enough runs although it was difficult with some sharp bowling and a lively pitch. The ground fielding was exceptional and backed up the bowlers very well. Mitch was a bit expensive unlike Monty. Good to see Jason back and playing.
Man of the Match was Monty Urolagin and TFC was Bob Hunter. Before you complain Bob it was purely for the dot ball that Bream bowled that had to be called a dead ball because you were not ready!!!!!
